Just a few of the many tourist attractions are listed below and lots of information can be found at the local tourist office (some of their leaflets are in English).

The Chateau de Saint Mesmin

The Chateau de Saint Mesmin is just 5 minutes* away. This is a X1V century medieval fortress and many special events are held there during the season.

Grand Parc Puy du Fou

The Grand Parc Puy du Fou with its exceptional entertainment programme is just 20 minutes* away – you can watch the daytime shows, or visit the night show ‘La Cinescenie’ (the biggest night show in the world with 1,200 actors)


Pescalis, an international nature and fishing centre, is also 20 km.

Ostrich farm

To keep the children (and adults) amused there is an ostrich farm with a great maize maze in Courlay (approx. 20 km) and the Parc de la Vallee, Massais 35 km.

Le Parc Oriental de Maulevrier

There is a beautiful Japanese garden – Le Parc Oriental de Maulevrier

Bioparc Zoo de Doue

The bioparc Zoo de Doue nestles in Anjou’s limestone landscape and is approx 55 km


This is where you can have guided tours of the wine cellars and wine-tasting sessions is 70km

Marais Poitevin

Marais Poitevin (Green Venice) is a beautiful area of waterways and islands.

Beaches and Coastlines

The Atlantic Coast and La Rochelle are also approx 95 km. La Rochelle not only has lovely sandy beaches but also boasts a huge aquarium, a glorious old harbour and is the biggest yachting centre on the Atlantic coast.


Paris can be reached by TGV (fast train) taking approx 3 hours from Bressuire, which is approx 15 minutes* away.
